Pekalongan, My Wonderful Hometown
Pekalongan regency is located on the north coast of Central Java, Indonesia. Pekalongan is diveded into 2 areas. The first area is the north which is lowland and the second area is the south which is highland. With the capital city of Kajen, the regency consists of 19 districts and 285 villages.
Pekalongan regency has a lot of businesses and batik industries. That’s why Pekalongan is well-known for its distinct colorful batik and was officially included by United Nation Organization into world’s creative cities network in the crafts and folk art category in December 2014. Most of batik production centers are located in Buaran and Wiradesa. There people can find different motif and style. In fact, most of the Batiks are exported abroad. |

Pekalongan is also known for its culinary, such as megono, tauto and pindang tetel. These foods are usually found in Pekalongan as traditional food that sometimes are served as people’s daily food. For example is nasi megono. This food is made of young jack fruit that is chopped smoothly. Usually mixes with sambal and tempe mendoan. Most people eat this food as menu for both breakfast and dinner. Another example is tauto. Tauto is like soto. But it has special ingredients like tauto and beef which make the broth is black.

Pekalongan regency has a lot of wonderful places, such as Linggo Asri (usually called as LA), Kali pahingan, Watu Ireng, Curug Muncar, Curug Bajing, and etc. In these places, people can take many pictures, swim, hike, and see animals. Recently, the government has built ‘KM-0 Monument’ and ‘Dadi Kajen’ so that people can spend their time there while talking and eating. |

Besides, Pekalongan has a lot of traditions, like syawalan, kirab, and batik festival that is held every year. Pekalongan is multiculture because the inhabitant are from different background. Most of them are javanese, whereas the others are chinese, arab, and etc. However, the people are nice. That’s why the culture in Pekalongan is unique. One of Pekalongan’s dialect that is very famous is ‘ndean’ which means ‘maybe’. Pekalongan’s people used to say this word. And sometimes replace it with other word like ‘coe’. Pekalongan is easy to reach because it’s located on pantura so that people can go to there by train, bus, car or motorcycle. After all, Pekalongan is a very nice and wonderful regency because it has a lot destinantions, food, and cultures. Semoga Bermanfaat :)
